Hanoi named among the world’s best destinations for food
Hanoi’s cuisine has been highly praised by travelers and TripAdvisor experts, ranking 11th on the list of the 25 best food destinations in the world for 2026.
The world-leading online travel platform TripAdvisor announced the Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations 2026 awards, honoring Hanoi in four categories: overall destination, culture, food, and tourism, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism on February 11.
Among them, Hanoi secured 11th place in the ranking of the 25 cities with the best food in the world in 2026. The list is selected based on several criteria, including delicious cuisine, diversity of dishes, and flavors that appeal to a wide range of international visitors.
To experience the authentic taste of Hanoi’s street food, travelers are encouraged to visit the Old Quarter, where many long-standing eateries preserve the city’s traditional culinary flavors.
Popular street foods loved by international diners include pho, bun cha, cha ca La Vong, banh cuon, banh mi, and fried spring rolls. In addition, Hanoi’s coffee culture — with unique variations such as egg coffee, salt coffee, and Vietnamese iced milk coffee — also contributes to creating a distinctive culinary experience for visitors to the capital, according to the Tourism Information Center of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

In addition, Hanoi also ranks 7th on the list of the 25 Best Cultural Destinations and 25 Best Solo Travel Destinations in the world. In the Top Destinations category, Hanoi holds 4th place.
Appearing simultaneously in multiple award categories highlights the well-rounded appeal of Vietnam’s capital—not only for its landscapes but also for its cultural depth, vibrant experiences, and its ability to meet global travel trends.
Tripadvisor describes Vietnam’s capital as charming and timeless, with well-preserved Old Quarter streets, historical sites, and colonial architecture. At the same time, the city offers open spaces that allow room for modern development.
Recommended places to visit in Hanoi include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, Hoa Lo Prison, numerous parks and lakes, as well as tree-lined streets and more than 600 pagodas scattered throughout the city.

The Travelers’ Choice Best of the Best Destinations award is a prestigious recognition honoring destinations that receive the highest ratings from the travel community over a 12-month period. The title is part of the annual Traveller’s Choice Awards organized by Tripadvisor, typically announced at the end of January.
Within this award system, Best of the Best represents the highest level of recognition. Only nearly 1% of the 8 million destinations and businesses listed on the platform receive this distinction, highlighting exceptional excellence in the tourism industry.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Hanoi appearing in multiple award categories demonstrates the city’s well-rounded appeal. The capital attracts visitors not only with its scenery but also with its rich cultural depth, vibrant experiences, and its ability to meet evolving global travel trends.
